Published by Marvel Comics in 2009, Amazing Spider-Man #603 features “Deconstructing Peter,” the third chapter of the four-part “Red-Headed Stranger” storyline.

After kidnapping Peter Parker, the Chameleon assumes his face, voice and identity. While the real Peter struggles to escape a deadly trap, Chameleon moves through his personal life, manipulating his friends and damaging his relationships with Mary Jane, Flash Thompson, Michelle Gonzales and Harry Osborn.

Stealing Peter’s life is only part of Chameleon’s mission. By taking advantage of Peter’s photography assignment for the mayor’s office, the master of disguise prepares to infiltrate New York’s security operation and carry out a devastating attack.

Written by Fred Van Lente with artwork by Robert Atkins and Victor Olazaba, this issue presents a particularly dangerous and psychologically unsettling version of the Chameleon. The story continues in Amazing Spider-Man #604.
