AVENGERS #262 - 1985

Published by Marvel Comics in 1985, Avengers #262 features the story “Many Brave Hearts…” and marks an important turning point in Sub-Mariner’s history with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

After the Federal Aviation Administration grounds the Avengers’ Quinjets in Manhattan, Dr. Walter Newell—better known as Stingray—offers the team the use of Hydro-Base as a possible new headquarters.

During the Avengers’ visit to the floating facility, Namor unexpectedly arrives. The troubled Sub-Mariner soon clashes with Hercules, but once tensions settle, Captain America makes his former World War II ally a life-changing offer: join the Avengers.

Written by Roger Stern with artwork by John Buscema and Tom Palmer, this issue sets the stage for Namor’s membership in the Avengers and the team’s Hydro-Base era. Meanwhile, the Enclave begins another attempt to create the perfect human.
