SANDMAN #70 - 1995

The Sandman #70 begins The Wake, the final major storyline of Neil Gaiman’s legendary series. Following the death of Morpheus, the surviving members of the Endless gather to prepare for their brother’s funeral.

The Endless create a new envoy named Eblis O’Shaughnessy to retrieve the sacred objects required for the ceremony, while Daniel begins his existence as the new Dream. Friends, lovers, relatives and enemies are summoned to the Dreaming to mourn the fallen Dream King.

Featuring Michael Zulli’s detailed pencil artwork colored without traditional inks and a painted cover by Dave McKean, this issue opens the elegiac final chapter of the Sandman saga.
